Definitely not. It is of course our goal to direct the position of teeth and jaw correctly at an early stage for children and later with adolescents when the adult teeth come through – gently, effectively and permanently. We at DENT UP employ our orthodontic expertise and the various treatment methods of modern orthodontics for this purpose. But nowadays it is also possible to treat wrongly positioned teeth successfully even for adults.
The idea of going to an important business meeting, out to a meal with friends and indeed of "normal" everyday life as an adult with a brace in your mouth puts many off the idea of wearing a corrective brace. This is a mistake. Because the innovative options of modern-day orthodontics enable discreet correction of wrongly positioned teeth or jaws. Colleagues, friends, family, acquaintances and neighbours will not notice, and even when talking or eating, you will have almost no restrictions. No one will notice transparent braces or tooth-coloured ceramic brackets. In addition, these systems are distinguished by their outstanding efficiency, a reduced risk of tooth decay and no damage to the teeth after removal.
For us, as dentists who put a high value on the total health of our patients, teeth and jaw correction in adult life is not simply an matter of aesthetics. Functional aspects are also decisive for us. Because the jaw joint problems often linked to uncorrected tooth positions, such as chronic neck or back pain, migraine and vertigo or posture problems, can be improved for the long term by an orthodontic treatment – in an ideal case, combined with a course of physiotherapy. This is the case both for adults and for children.
